The Story Behind the Picture:
«Not only does the immaculate white of the co- lumn strike the observer in the otherwise beige hues of the cloister in the center of Palermo. No, also the fragile cactus, stretching its robust body upwards, gives one the impression of a rare sym- biosis found between human built elements and the presence of natural world tolerated at the same time. This almost makes one ask oneself, if this was not the original purpose of the column standing in this courtyard, only to support this plant, completely exempt of any human existen- ce.»
