The Story Behind the Picture:
«The glass blowing craftsmanship of the Twam family is astonishing – the process even as great as the outcome. Starting from a simple borosilicate glass tube they create pieces ranging from ordinary and convenient to alienated and abstract. They are able to precise- ly shape glass, depending on the wishes of their clients.
When they started their craft, the workshop was officially produ- cing glass vessels for the chemistry industry. Unofficially their main business was the production of glass bongs and pipes for the drug industry to make ends meet. With time and the collaboration with artists and designers they were able to detach from this busi- ness. Getting a chance to observe how they are mastering their craft with calmness and chaos concentrated on a small space was a true joy. Their work has the ability to activate a fragile industry and celebrates the incredible history of craft in Palestine.»
