The Story Behind the Picture:
«This child is sitting on his future home. In fact, an old man was working on this brick oven placed on his family field. He could get 1.5€ for 100 bricks but he‘s not going to sell them since he is producing them to build a three-story house to welcome all of his family that is becoming bigger and needs more space to fit all the generations. The younger members of this family are helping him to to produce the bricks of their future house, made of earth from their own fields.
In Madagascar, fields are often kept in families and transmitted from generation to generation. The ground gives them so much, from the vegetables that grow there to the bricks that are created from it. It‘s beautiful to see them using their precious ground to build the walls of their future home.»
